The drug has the following indications:
- Acute allergic conjunctivitis (pollinous conjunctivitis and other types);
- Infectious diseases of the organs of vision with an allergic component;
- Conjunctivitis, concomitant drug allergies.
Dosing and Administration
An adult person is prescribed 1 drop of Polinadim every three hours in the conjunctival sac , until the swelling and eye irritation is reduced. Then drop 1 drop three times a day until the clinic stops the disease.
Children from 2 years of age appoint 1-2 drops in each eye once a day. The duration of therapy is up to 5 days, not more.
On an individual basis, the duration of treatment can be increased. If the symptoms of the disease persist for 72 hours, it is necessary to discontinue the drug treatment.
Polynadim is contraindicated in:
- Conjunctival conjunctiva, or dry keratoconjunctivitis;
- Hypersensitivity to the components;
- Angle-closure glaucoma;
- Conducting therapy with MAO inhibitors.
Do not use drops in children under 2 years of age, during lactation and pregnancy. Pregnant and lactating use is possible in exceptional cases if the expected benefit is greater than the potential risk.
- CNS depression;
- Long-term mydriasis;
- Increased blood pressure.
Treatment of these clinical syndromes - symptomatic, with the abolition of the drug.
Local reactions are possible, such as signs of irritation of the conjunctiva (hyperemia of the mucous membrane, itching, burning of the eyelids). Sometimes there are transient disorders of visual function, increased intraocular pressure, mydriasis, painful sensations in the eyes, and increased dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity. After the abolition of Polynadim all of these phenomena disappear.
In medical practice, a single case is described - as a side effect from the use of the drug, corneal opacification occurred (Polynadim was used about 10 times a day for more than a week). After cessation of therapy, the symptom disappeared.
Occasionally, more often in children, elderly patients, pale skin, pain in the heart area, tachycardia, increased pressure, hyperhidrosis, headache, tremors, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, agitation are observed.
- Boric acid;
- Sodium tetraborate 10-water;
- Disodium edetate;
- Methylcellulose is water soluble;
Histamine H1 receptor blocker diphenhydramine (diphenhydramine) has antiallergic effect, reduces itching, tearing, swelling. Alpha-adrenomimetik naphazolin (naphthyzinum) is responsible for the long-term vasoconstrictor effect, reduces the permeability of peripheral vessels, when used locally has anti-edema and anti-inflammatory effect.
In childhood, you can not use the drug without consulting a doctor. It is impossible to drip Polynadim for more than 5 days, take orally, enter by injection. If signs of overdose or systemic absorption appear, treatment should be stopped immediately.
During the period of therapy with Polynadim, avoid wearing soft contact lenses. If you need to use lenses, you need to remove them before instillation of the medicine and put it on again no earlier than 15 minutes.
Immediately after applying the drops, it is necessary to avoid driving vehicles, practicing hazardous activities that require clear vision.
With simultaneous use with tricyclic antidepressants it is possible that the vasoconstrictor effect of naphazoline is enhanced. The same active substance when combined with MAO inhibitors treatment or use within 10 days after their cancellation can provoke a hypertensive crisis.
